Home Learn Linux Linux Answers Desktop My password will not work in a console. I can log into the desktop. I can disable a users password and log into a console. But if the user has a password the console log in fails.

  • As a security feature, somebody might be looking over your shoulder, the password does not appear in the Terminal.

    Just type it, although you can't see it and hit Enter.
