  • HPC is a technique to give more computational power to one distributed application, not to consolidate applications in one big management unit. You could better look to virtualization.

  • The first advantage is the price performance. When the code is developed in such a way that it can take advantage of a number of processors and do what's called parallel processing, it is a much more cost-efficient and cost-effective way of running simulations and analysis.
