I see some answers have already been posted in this section, so I'll just repeat what I've written in the other section.

This is a link to a cheat sheet for Linux Bash commands. I have a copy hanging close by on my wall.

If you use the "search" command at the top of the Linux.com home page, it will bring you tutorials and how-to's on a wide variety of subjects all related to Linux, even the very basics. Try it out.

Also, there is no need to ask the same question in two separate Question/Answer sections. We all see the questions when they come in, so, if you don't mind, just ask in one place. Or come over to the forums, where you can read threads where other users new to Linux have had their questions answered.

Other than reading a book or website, you can always try the whole trial and error thing. Also, there's always the manual pages, and the documentation in /usr/share/docs.

If you want a quick idea of what you can do on the CLI, open a terminal and enter the following command:

ls -1 $(echo $PATH | sed -e 's/:/ /g') | xargs -L1 whatis 2>/dev/null | grep -v "nothing" | less

The simplest method to look up command is to use the apropos utility which searches your installed manual pages and output app names and descriptions that match the criteria.
So if you want to find command for user administration you can run "apropos user" and you will get a list of command and what they do. To get additional information you can them option the man pages for your chosen command ,lets say useradd, by running the command "man useradd".
