Home Learn Linux Linux Answers Internet what apps are compatible with nubutu OS for encryption file decompresion, and lan codecing???
Answers
  • If you do a search in Add/Remove Software or Synaptic in your nubuntu menu system, you'll find a host of apps that will suit your needs. If your looking for compatible apps, there's no need to look any farther than your distro's repository.

  • I'm not sure what you mean by "lan codecing", but any Ubuntu distro should have TruCrypt in the repository. Also, there are a number of kernel modules that allow fo whole disc encryption. I don't know of any partial-disk encryption apps off the top of my head, but I'm sure you can find some in the repository. If by "lan codecing" you mean that you want to employee encryption on the wire, You can either use IPv6 and leverage the encryption native to IPv6 or there are several tools available to enabling IPSec encryption in Linux (see racoon, ipsec-tools, ike, isakmpd, openswan, strongswan, etc).
