  • I don't have any experience with Dovecot, but if it's like *most* imap servers, then there is no such thing as an automatically populated address book. Imap only provides for delivery of mail to clients. What you probably need to do is implement something like an LDAP directory to provide the address book functionality you want. I suspect that someone had already figured out a way to tie that data in with OpenLDAP.
