Unfortunately the blacklist package does not properly stop nouveau, so you will need to remove the nouveau package then install the nouveau-blacklist as a precaution.

Follow the steps below to properly remove and block the nouveau driver:

    removepkg xf86-video-nouveau-8bb82312-x86_64-1
    installpkg /extra/xf86-video-nouveau-blacklist-noarch-1
then after a reboot install the binary drivers

  • Thanks, Matt. I'm not going to deal with this until I install 13.37, but it's good to have the info. :)

  • I'm now running 13.37 (current) on both my desktop and laptop machines with no Nouveau issues.

This question can be marked as resolved.

    Thanks,
