Home Learn Linux Linux Answers Audio/Video i installed flash 10 in my ubuntu.using firefox in my normal user doesnt play flash videos.but from root,it plays.what can i do for this? running firefox as root is not security risk right?

  • Running any GUI program, especially a network-oriented one like Firefox, as root is a HUGE security risk.

    You should be able to use flash 10 without being root. How did you install it? Is your user in the video group (run "groups" on the command line to see (under your account, not root))?

  • Try to use your system as a general user as much as possible.
    Theres always a security risk running programs as a root.
