Home Learn Linux Linux Answers Embedded/Mobile I am searching for an easy to use reporting tool for an arm embedded system

  • "Reporting Tool" sounds a little bit generic, what kind of reports you want to collect ? are you talking about realtime data collection ? data analysis ? an hw checker ? a profiler ?
I may suggest some tools if you explain your proposals or just drop down some notes on the task you'd like to achieve

  • Ok, your right i was not precise enough.

I have some data in a local database or some text files. I want to create a template, then fill this template with the collected data and print it (or create a txt, pdf).

I found jfreereports, but java on an embedded system is not my favorite solution .

  • Ok, now I've understood it better.
I use BIRT, it's my favorite reporting tool for data collection and analysis but like jfreereports it's totally written in Java and depends heavily on Eclipse and its plugins, it's an outstanding reporting tool for a common desktop (a little bit too fat...) but not viable for your embedded ARM system.
But... I've seen this: http://homepages.inf.ed.ac.uk/timc/gurgle/ (GNU Report Generator), they've changed the name but it's still the same project and it could be light enough for your needs, let me know :-)
