What are the steps to reset the root password on Tikanga 5.7 without knowing the root password?

Hello,
I have a customer who has lost their root password on their Tikanga 5.7 and they want me to reset it without knowing what the current root password is. Can anyone tell me what the specific steps would be in order to load a kernel upon reboot that will allow me to do this?

  • Boot from a LiveCD/liveUSB/whatever. Chroot into the hard disk and call "passwd"

    You'll type in a new password. :)

  • boot into single-user mode.
    then run passwd to change the password.
