One or more disks about to fail
written by Bob Hackenberg, November 04, 2009
I just upgraded from Ubuntu 9.04 to 9.10. This seemed to install smoothly but once I did the final reboot to use the system, I get a severe warning that "one or more disks are about to fail" and it advises me to back up the system. I did back up the system and then started checking around. It appears that a lot of people are seeing this error after upgrading. I have a dual-boot system. Windows Vista uses the 750 gb disk that came with the computer. I installed a 500 gb disk for use of Linux. That second disk is what is being complained about. It is less than a year old.
Anyone else experiencing this?

I am also getting that there is a system crash error every time I boot the system. My machine seems to be working fine under Ubuntu.
