For The Linux Foundation, April is not the cruelest month: it's one of the busiest. Every year, we hold our Collaboration Summit in mid-April to bring together our members, Linux and open source community developers, open source legal minds, and large scale Linux and open source users in an intimate setting. Report: Enterprise Linux Growth Outpaces Windows

The Linux Foundation today is releasing its annual Enterprise End User Report. Because this is the third year we've surveyed the world's largest enterprises and The Linux Foundation's End User Council about Linux adoption, we're able to share some interesting trending data. But perhaps most interesting is the opportunity to understand how Linux is outpacing Windows in server revenue in the enterprise. IDC's latest quarterly tracker shows Linux growing at 12.7 percent year-over-year while Windows is stagnating at 3.2 percent year-over-year growth. In fact, the quarter prior (Q312), Windows was actually in decline while Linux was growing. Free Resource: A Manager's Guide to Building a Product with Embedded Linux

According to a 2012 survey of embedded engineers by both VDC Research and UBM Electronics, the use of Linux in embedded projects is increasing at a fast rate.  UBM reported that some 35 percent of embedded developers are working on Linux projects and that number increases to 48 percent when Android is included.
