Bucking the historical trend of comparing desktop Linux with Windows, Ubuntu founder Mark Shuttleworth recently told journalist Bruce Byfield that he was looking to Mac OS X as the operating system to beat for future Ubuntu releases — particularly in the areas of usability and user experience.  Now that Ubuntu 9.04 is out, how does it compare to Apple’s latest offering?

Ubuntu beats MACs 10fold. The same goes with software. There's more for Linux than a mac.

Personally, I hope they don't try /too hard/ to be like Mac OS X. I'm forced to use OS X at work sometimes, and it is always a headache. The most annoying thing about it is that when things go wrong, the OS doesn't give you any clue about what is going on, or any means of escape. I still have nightmares about that spinning "busy" icon.

Ubuntu is better

Mac has very little applications installed. If you install Gnome, Firefox and other (they are available on Mac as well as on Linux), then Mac will be well.
