LibreOffice 3.5.3 Released

libreofficeThe Document Foundation announced the latest release of their popular Open Source office suite today, LibreOffice 3.5.3. The announcement had a bit of a tease this time as well.

But first things first, some of the improvements this release include:

● copy column privileges into table privileges

● fix - use older ODF encryption by default

fix the fix so it doesn't crash (tee hee)

● never let users save in /tmp by default

● fix find toolbar X error handling

● ignore corrupted items in Recent Documents

● do not increase height of checkboxes

 

Italio Vignoli also mentioned that a number of new developers are Google Summer of Code 2012 students and listed some of their planned projects. These include:

● collaborative spreadsheet editing using Telepathy

● a smartphone remote control

● a new UI for picking templates

● an improved Impress SVG export filter
