How can I be sure My Computer can run Linux?

Several linux versions enable users Live CD/DVD/USB versions which should NOT effect your existing OS.

BTW check this is so before trying, as MS-W is fussy about it's partitions being altered.

Try several Live versions, find one you like that works, then it should install OK.

Most linux versions can shrink your HardDrive partitions then create a partitions into which to install, however be sure your MS-W is ready eg fully updated and trash cleaned and empties, before this, as MS-W is fussy when it's partitions altered.

How can you be sure? Check the system requirements of the Linux distribution that interests you. I would recommend Linux Lite (www.linuxliteos.com) for you.

30gb and only 4,8 gb free? u sure need to delete some files if you want to dual boot linux otherwise 30gb is fine

I would say xfce lxde fluxbox or any other light DE would run on your computer just fine but stay away from massive Desktop environments like kde or gnome.

Yes, Linux Mint Cinnamon Edition will probably run smoothly on your computer, but you probably will not be able to dual boot both, as Linux will require 20GB, but Windows will demand even more. Why? Your computer meets the minimum specifications for Linux, and the hardware info you gave seems to be compatible.
