I know the project, my biggest issue at the moment is related to hw material, it's really hard to find original games and game replays (hw usb device where to save games for hacking).
These two are required for sw hacking, even on GameRush or retail stores they're not available even for rent or something else. It's easier to find an xbox modded on ebay, softmodding on old consoles is becoming difficult due to the lack of materials

By the way I even have two other xbox lying around, not modded, I'd like to softmod them but instructions refers to games and controller not available now or really hard to find, is there someone of you with "hints" on it ?

As many of you I'm an XBox (v1) happy owner, I'm still using it as a media center with XBMC project, it simply rocks and it's really cool.
I've modded the XBox with a hw chip (Xecuter3 chip), not softmodded. If you really want to surf the web original XBMC project does not have an embedded browser in it. you really need to:
- use linksboks browser, a xbox/win32 application for surfing the web, it's a browser. You can run it from xbmc, from dashboard or directly
- use a linux distribution on it, this whipes your xbox, you cannot use xbmc but you can install Firefox or whatever you want to surf the web from linux
thanks that helps a lot

Take a look at XBMC. I had to soft mod my xbox first to replace the dashboard. Then I was able to install XBMC. Though the xbox hardware is a bit limited it still makes a great general media player. Take a look at the link below for more info. Hope this helps.
