Sure it does, I had use redhat and centos on dell servers with hardware raid (scsi, multiple disks, raid interface, etc.) and this operating systems recognize raid hardware right on the installation so your Linux server can be used perfectly with ant kind of raid versions.
The advantage of using commercial servers like those from dell, hp or ibm is that they come with a pre-installation disk that "fits" the hardware to your choice of Linux or Windows (partitions, etc) so when you insert your distro linux disk (in my case only tested with redhat or centos) automagically loads all the needed drivers for the raid system at the installation steps.
