We switched from windows xp to linux. I need to find out if my system has wifi already. How do I do this?

We run Ubuntu.

Most wireless driver needs firmware so install available firmware wouldn't be bad. Further kernel may detect your wireless NIC if firmware is in place of /lib/firmware

So ifconfig should show your NICs
ifconfig -a

It will not bring up wifi if you have it installed, but it will show any wifi...

It will not bring up wifi if you have it installed, but it will show any wifi module you have...You need to open a Terminal, and as Root (e.g with sudo if your distro uses it), use the commands : sudo lspci|grep Network ...or sudo lsusb
