Where is Thunderbird's Inbox?

I have just set up an old laptop with xubuntu to replace an old Windows machine that my wife is using. Fortunately, she is already using Thunderbird for her email, and I have her account configured and working on the linux machine.

In the current Thunderbird configuration, all her mail is downloaded and stored on the hard drive, so I would like to copy her existing inbox and outbox to the linux laptop. I have found these on the Windows machine, but I have not been able to find the folder that would hold them in xubuntu. On the "new" machine, I am currently leaving messages on the server until I complete the transfer.

Any hints as to where I should put the mailbox files would be appreciated. Thank you.

Yes indeed they're, you can move files to different OSes if you want to keep...

There's an excellent doc on : http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Thunderbird
but briefly: C:\Documents and Settings\\Application Data\Thunderbird\Profiles\

And yes, the mailbox and index file formats for the Windows and Linux versions of Thunderbird are identical.
