All you need to is :
Download the latest firmware from the link Reed already posted :
Extract the files from the downloaded .tgz archive.
Copy the extracted files as root user to /lib/firmware
Now either reboot or insmod ipw2200
You should then have an adapter that you can scan and connect using.
