Members are the heartbeat of The Linux Foundation. It is the collective efforts of our corporate and individual members that support the work of Linux creator Linus Torvalds and that help advance the Linux operating system.
The Linux Foundation is also supported by purchases made at the Linux.com Store. To say thank you this holiday season to past, present and future individual members, we have announced a drawing for one of five $50 U.S. gift vouchers to the Linux.com Store.
If you sign up for a new membership between now and December 20, you will automatically be entered to win one of these valuable gifts. If you're already a member or won't have the opportunity to sign up as a member this month, you can send your name and email address to The Linux Foundation offices to be entered into the drawing. Winners will be notified with their gifts around December 21.
The Linux.com Store has all kinds of geek goodness. Even my 10-year-old niece loves the shirt I bought her from the Store. The Linux Foundation recently added some new items, such as the "I Believe in Linux" mousepad. And my favorite, "We Made IT," (our community design win) is a must have if you plan on calling yourself a Linux Geek in 2011.
While the most popular benefit from joining The Linux Foundation is supporting the cause, individual members also receive a ton of cool perks: employee purchase pricing from Dell, HP and Lenovo is my favorite, but the discounts on O’Reilly books, as well as other events and publications, and the exclusive Linux.com email address are pretty sweet, too. You also get Linux.com Store discounts, delivering up even more savings on gifts for the holiday (especially if you win one of the $50 gift cards).
The official rules for the drawing can be read on The Linux Foundation website. You know, stuff like you have to be 18 years or older to participate.
Here's wishing everyone a peaceful holiday season and Happy New Year! Now, good luck on the drawing!
