Installing a compiled Linux Kernel on PC without existing OS

Link to this post 08 Apr 13

Hello, I want to ask a couple of questions about the Linux Kernel.

  1. What are the components of the Linux Kernel?

  2. Does the Linux Kernel include a C compiler and a Terminal to interface with?

  3. Can I compile a Linux Kernel and install it on a PC without an existing Operating System? If yes is there any website for a tutorial on how to do it?

  4. Can I compile a GUI-Desktop shell to work with the Linux Kernel?

Thank You
