Advanced format drive aligning

Link to this post 24 May 10

Hey, I need help aligning my drive for my advanced format 2 TB WDEARS drive for linux.

I have GParted that I can use on my PC to help. Ive tried many different guides and tutorials that never worked for me for some reason. I need it to be aligned so I can make 4 partitions on it of various sizes.

Thanks very much if anyone knows how I can fix it, ive been trying for 1 week now.

Your post has been driving me crazy because I thought that the drive must be using the 4kb sectors and it turns out I was right.

Read the post at http://www.linuxconfig.org/linux-wd-ears-advanced-format, it should be able to walk you through the partitioning scheme.
