Just installed Lubuntu on a trashed Windows 8 installation. Tons of driver issues with 8. Switched it over Linux but still no wi-fi. Ethernet works but the point of a laptop is the wireless.

Could I forget about Windows updates if I were to use Linux for going to the internet and continue to use Windows 7 for my applications? I have a lot of proprietary software that is designed for W7 and cannot afford to replace it. However, I am afraid to go to the internet with unupdated W7...

After booting up BT5 I find I cannot start Networking because the Adapter is not linked to the OS. Any other Linux Distro i've used does not present the same problem & Networking is readily available. But BT5 appears to be a shell & is built as you go along. What ought to be automatically...

The wireless has not been functional. Previously, the laptop had Windows XP and the wireless worked just fine.
