At least one report coming out of last week’s BrainShare conference in Salt Lake City touts Novell’s spoofs of Apple’s PC Guy vs. Mac Guy ad campaign as one of the top attractions at the show.In addition to the three takeoffs on the Apple ads, there are three other marketing videos entitled “Geek my Sled” that spoof the “Trick My Truck” TV show, and three more that feature a Samurai gecko on a quest to unlock his full potential.

The attraction for me in all of these is the novelty of seeing Linux featured in professionally done marketing videos — something that’s been missing since IBM’s Linux ads of 2003 and Red Hat’s Truth Happens video from 2005.
