InnoDB Performance Monitoring with innotop

Nearly ten years ago (back in early 2000), I got tired of repeatedly running SHOW PROCESSLIST to look for troublesome queries and SHOW STATUS to watch overall trends in MySQL as the number change every few seconds. What I really wanted was something like the Unix top command: an automatically refreshing and customizable display of the most relevant information from MySQL at any given moment. So I sat down to write mytop and released it under the GPL later that year.
It‚Äôs sort of amazing to me that people are still using mytop, especially since I stopped development for several years even though there was a growing wish list of new features. I was doing a lot less MySQL related work in my job and didn‚Äôt have the time or energy to do more than accept the few patches that rolled in and fix a few of the worst bugs…
