Gmane – Mail to news and back again

a few mail-to-news gateways exist. Gmane combines the two — it’s a mailing list archive that can be read via a news reader, which is a pretty convenient way to read a mailing list archive. In addition, Gmane is a bidirectional gateway, which means that users can participate in mailing lists without having to subscribe to them.”
