As with most video made with FOSS apps, the sound is completely out of synch with the action. Painful to look at, and I use linux exclusively.

I watched this video on my Kubuntu 7.10 laptop, there was no audio/video sync problem, it was perfect, I have to say.

That's a great clip. Thanks for making it available. Like most others here, I didn't experience any A/V sync problem. I watched the OGG version using the mozilla-mplayer plug-in. It worked fine, although I had to turn the sound way up to hear the video.

I use one machine that is Vista-only and another that is Ubuntu only. On both machines, I attempt to use FOSS as much as possible. Obviously, this is much easier on the Ubuntu machine.

However, as someone who is just entering the business world, FOSS has a long way to go before it will be able to compete at the enterprise level.

That said, I can do everything I need to do on a personal level from within Ubuntu, and I prefer to do so whenever possible.

I only hope more people will make the move to FOSS software so that people in business will be able to migrate without any problems.

I think his pronunciation of Debian is correct, but I say Linux with a soft "i" myself.

It's always a relief when we can see just how a regular guy with a regular job can become a pioneer, and example for us all. In any industry, these pioneers can be found, if they are looked for. Since they are no different than you and me, it would seem to be a good move for the industry to encourage everyone to do what they feel is right and take on challenges that may one day land their work in space or the latest movie technology.

I wonder if we will one day just consider everyone's achievements in their day to day regular work "normal".

Again, this was an awesome and historic piece of work, and in Bruce's own words, it doesn't getter better than that.

I've been using and teaching people how to use FOSS in business and their personal lives for over 10 years, the benefits keep increasing month by month, not every other year or two (or five) like most non FOSS applications.

I believe it's because of the principles behind FOSS, the principles of community and common good of all, that people can step up and make huge strides in development. Anyone with the knowledge can build rebuild and unbuild apps etc. as they see fit.

Bruce is proof that it is lucrative and worth the time and effort to remain unbiased and "open" to whatever comes your way.
