Subject: Changin To Linux!!!! (at last!)
I have installed many distros on my system such as SUSE 10, fedora core 5, vector linux, ubuntu 5.10. I have also tried some live distros such as knoppix, lindows etc... 1) i want to change to linux, but i want a distribution (or propably a package) so i can connect my mobile phone (sony ericsson k750i) to the internet (in most distributions the OS recognized my memory stick and i could transfer files, but none recognized the phone...what can i do for that??? 2) i was browsing the net and saw some videos on youtube about beryl...can i install it on any distro or only ubuntu?? i generally want something that is fully functional and does almost everything (i mean everything but cofee:P)! thank you guys!!! oh...not to forget! my setup is AMD Opteron Processor 858>>>2.01GHz and i have 512 Gigs of RAM my graphics card is nVidia GeForce 7100 GS 256MB i am actually a music producer who used to work on windows and now works on mac...but wants to load his PC with something else that is non microsoft!!! thanks guys!!

Hi Andrew, As per 1) the comments here seem interesting: http://contented.life.eu.org/articles/sony-ericsson-k750i-and-linux/ Also look at: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=693993&highlight=K750i As per 2) just google search for "favorite distro berl" and you'll see relevant results. It's not Ubuntu only. And your system seems good enough for any Linux distro, although 512 MB RAM might not be sufficient for the graphic effects, but, you do have a 256 MB graphics card so I guess it'll work out great. You can try any of Fedora, Ubuntu, Mandriva or OpenSUSE. They all can do everything, but coffee, and are excellent for anything you might wish to do. Cheers!
