Can Linux handle the newer hardware?

Subject: Can Linux handle the newer hardware?
Hi all, been thinking about migrating away from windows but i have two issues one hardware and one software. Years ago in the 80's i was a UNIX (and UNIX variants) GURU and spent many thousands of hours in that OS till about 94 or so then more and more clients were on Windows so I had to follow suit. And I played with one of the earliest versions of linux back in, I think 91 or 92 can't remember for sure. I have a box with an EVGA 780i, 2 EVGA 8800GTX vid cards, 4GB Kingston SLI ready Memory and 2 500GB Sata drives. Does linux support this hardware? Thanks, w

all new linux version is supported this hardwares. Nvidia support a its hardware of driver, memory is supporting integrated and disk drivers.

i have mandriva 2008 and i have put the drivers for the 8800 ultra geforce and i have multiple monitor function working no problem . i only have problems with my sound card which is a creative xfi , cant seem to find drivers for it. few little things but i am fairly new to linux so i have to find my way around. karl
