Subject: Memory type and bank informations in linux
I want to get memory information about Memory type and bank in linux and i am using Rad Hat Linux Also i wants to get bios information for which I tried biosdecoder and dmidecoder but for which I need Super User authorities, that i dont have. With cat /proc/meminfo i got some memory information but it doesnt gives the type and bank information. Is there any other way to get memory informations with type and bank, also Bios information. If any one knows any command or script then pls reply me.

Which desktop are you running? I assume that you want this information for a local machine. Kinfo in KDE will give you a lot of hardware information. BIOS information on the other hand can usually be gained by entering setup during machine boot. You should be able to do this without superuser or administrator (machine) access, but your answers might be limited.
