Subject: Firefox fade in/ out slow scrolling. LAG. Help ?
Alright, well I can be on youtube or one of the various porn sites that I go to ever so often (I'm not going to lie to you) and, I downloaded adblock plus for this reason. I start to lag. Hard. Like, Firefox will fade in , and then be non-responsive, and it will turn black-and white, and then go back. And when it does this, scrolling becomes extremely slow, like I have to wait for the scrolling to go completely to the bottom or top and after a minute or two it comes back to normal. I really don't know what this is.It is the most annoying thing that i have ever come to set my eyes on. .. Well, that, and noobs. (I play online with my Ps3) Can you help? This would be very much appreciated.

Just for experimental tryout, does the ptoblem go away if you disable Adblock? I don't run Adblock in Firefox 3.0.5 that I have. Instead I run No Scripts instead. It is a little easier to run than Adblock. Also look in Hardware Drivers in System>Administration and see if there are any propriertary drivers you may need to enable.

No, this was worse before I installed adblock. The main reason I got it was to get those annoying flash ads that only take up my processor power to show me something that I don't, nor will I ever need. I'll check my drivers, and get back to you.

Welll, I just installed 21 updates and the only driver that I needed was a broadcom driver for my wireless card I use to get an extra 30kb/s boost. (See, we have At&t for our internet service, which sucks ass. )

I have Adblock here and my Firefox is very good. But once I had this problem - don't know if with the same intensity though - and the problem was the acceleration method in Compiz. Do you have Compiz-fusion (the cool desktop effects) on?

Did you have the any problems with Firefox before installing Adblock? If not, try to remove and reinstall Firefox using these commands in the terminal: sudo apt-get remove firefox sudo apt-get autoremove sudo apt-get install firefox That should totally wipe any changes that you made to Firefox.
