Subject: PS3 Media Server
I have been trying to get a media server for my PS3 working in Ubuntu Intripid 64 bit I have found a brilliant media server, pms-linux-1.02.1 available at http://code.google.com/p/ps3mediaserver/downloads/detail?name=pms-linux-1.02.1.tgz&can=2&q= It is extremely easy to get running as its written in Java, just make sure your PS3 is running and on your network when you run the PMS.sh script as it finds your PS3 during its automatic configuration. It is extremely simple to use. No you don't need further instructions !! Longer version: I have been trying for quite a long time to find a media server to watch avi files on my ps3 and have tried Frupps, MediaTomb, ushare and others. I have spent many hours without success trying to get any of these servers running. I have been through the forums and tried each and every tip I could find and got nowhere. At the point of giving up completely I stumbled on pms-linux and it is just so simple to use and brilliant quality that I would recommend it to everyone. I stream through wifi 54Meg ( well supposed to be anyway;) ) and I get no lag, avi files play perfectly, no converting or mucking around to make them work, they just work. Another computer here is a windows box with TVersity on it and from it we get lag from it, so badly that its difficult to watch. And thats through the same wifi. Ok I'm finished raving now

To run the PMS.sh script you will need to run that from the command line and alter permissions to allow it to run: Use the following commands from within the programs folder: sudo chmod 777 PMS.sh ./PMS.sh {Don't forget the ./ then just follow your on screen instructions}

I would just copy it to /usr/bin/PMS drop the sh from the end and chmod +x instead of chmod 777. Then you can run it with just PMS, although maybe you want to change the acronym? lol
