Accessing files not on a linux server

I am brand new to linux. I currently use a macintosh computer and I have access to a linux server that has various programs I use for data analysis. I have files on my macintosh I need to use in the programs on the server, but I don't know how to access those files with the programs. For example, I can open SAS, which is on the server, but the data I need is on my personal computer and not on the server. How can I get that data on the server? Thanks for your help. Droovy
