How to start a command line app on bootup

Is there anyway to do this? and it is possible to do this without logging in? I can use any distro as long as its compatible with armv6.

yes, you could add some service script to /etc/init.d/

and point to autostart on next boot or add to /etc/rc.local (S99local)
