RE: How to play DVDs, Flash, Java, MP3s and all other restricted extras easily with Ubuntu.
The terminal method allow more fine control of what is being done and it is generally much faster to paste a command or run a script then having to search for each package in the gui.

RE: script for helping new users with ubuntu 13.04
I highly recommend posting this on a script or text site such as pastebin or github so it is easily searchable and so you can update it as new features are requested.

    RE: USB wi-fi adapter?
Windows based drivers do not work on linux based systems, so the autorun is meaninless. You can attempt to use the ndiswrapper application to translate the driver, due to the wide documentation of ndiswrapper I will not give the steps here as a quick google search will find the necessary instructions. Have you just tried going to the network connection applet and checking to see if it already sees the new device?

    RE: USB wi-fi adapter?
What action did you take prior to getting the message? I am asking because the message is indicating that an archive extraction failed. If you were trying to use an adapter that is supported by the kernel no such action would be necessary, so that would indicate that you are either trying to to use ndiwrapper or a third-party driver.

RE: Install Gentoo from minimal installation
First resolve the issue with 2.16 before you move on. I recommend checking the contents of /usr/share/zoneinfo with something lie tree or manually searching through the appropriate subdirectories to find an existing timezone file that apples to your locale. As for the lack of the eslect command try running "find / -name eselect" to see if maybe it is not recognized because the directory have not been mapped to the user's path variable.

    RE: Linux drivers on android
You can check the source code used for the android build for your phone type http://source.android.com/source/building-kernels.html to confirm what drivers are included.
