RE: want to run /etc/rc.d/rc.local in system boot time
rc.local isn't in rc.d, it's in the root of /etc Edit /etc/rc.local and you're good to go :) Be wary mounting NFS at boot like that though, it may make your system hang if there is no network connection before hand.

RE: Project Planning App???
Among those results in mfillpot's link is OpenProj which I can recommend 100%! When I was at college, we had a whole unit on using project but I didn't have M$ so I was stuck in the mud. Then I found OpenProj and finished my coursework faster than nearly everyone ;)

RE: Ubuntu based Mint 9 possible bugs
Mint is based on Ubuntu and is far superior. Ubuntu has so many little niggles that the Clem and his team work hard to sort out. If Ubuntu is the rock, Mint is the diamond! With regards to your internet, browsing works I take it? What actually happens when downloading the ISO "doesn't work"? It could be any number of issues.

RE: Setting IPv4 address & sharing
You can assign a static address in the Network Manager. Select Auto eth0 from the list and click Edit. Then set the address type to manual and input the information.

RE: custom gnome3 appearance
I don't believe there is one. I think the best way would just be to make the configuration themeable. It's much like when people ask for a GUI to configure Conky, it's just not part of the scheme. Somebody may write one in future though :)

RE: Removable drives will not mount
Slackware is notorious for being difficult. I would prefer to use Gentoo than Slackware any day. Check this thread out: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/linux-hardware-18/problem-mounting-external-harddrive-in-slackware-751181/
