Most stable distro for my macbook pro

I just downloaded ubuntu 12.04. But im tempted to try cent os. And also would like to get some feed back on debian. I know its very stable, but i also know that with this stability you give up a good bit of bleeding egde.
Also considering using arch linux or gentoo again, but; im not sure if itll be worth my time. Do you guys think that gentoo's optimizations would help performance and stability if i maintain it correctly
My linux Mint just failed. So im looking for something a bit more stable. The start up time isnt a huge deal. But once it's up i dont want it to go anywhere
