Depends on what games you want to play?

Web games? Flash comes installed already depending on which version of Mandriva you've installed. Open JDK is also installed by default, however I'd recommend installing Sun's Java package.

Windows games? Install WINE, as the other poster mentioned.

Your user doesn't have to be a part of any kind of special group.B)

I definitely agree with Jim. When you finally get tired of the crap Ubuntu throws at you, give Mandriva a try! The true user-friendly distro ;)
