Sorry to hear that didn't work. Snowlinux does have it's own forum and IRC channel it looks like and that might be an avenue to try for more specific help. Neither of them looked particularly active when I checked and I'm not sure how big the community is though.

If possible you might want to try a distro with a larger community around it, that can be really helpful when you're new.

I'm not much up on debian derivatives but with GoinEasy recommending siduction I'd say that would be a good place to start.

I'm not a Snowlinux or LXDE user but I looked around a bit for you. There's a post about it over on the Linux Mint LXDE forums here.

It seems using

sudo dpkg-reconfigure tzdata

Goineasy's link to the fedora wiki describes a fairly easy way to build your own fedora based live-cd with livecd-creator. It wont take everything you have currently installed and requires upfront work but it would accomplish the same thing.

Also I think they have made some progress with Autoplus since the creation of this thread so if you did/didn't check it out then please go do so again, might be what you're looking for.

I don't think anyone is hating. It's good to hear that you've come to trust the linux community for intelligent answers to questions but that doesn't mean there are people with vast knowledge of Windows N64 emulators lurking on Linux only forums.

That being said, what is your specific problem? I know you said you've tried several different programs, but I have no idea what they are or what games or what errors or issues you're having from your post, that makes it difficult to help.

Taking a random stab at helping you out: I know several people have used Mupen to various degrees of success on both Linux and Windows, so that might be a place to look if you haven't yet.

If you're using Wine right now you've already discovered the best way to play windows games on Linux. If you're curious as to what has been confirmed to work and what hasn't check out the wine appdb:http://appdb.winehq.org/. Aside from ratings that will let you know whether something works or not there are also usually helpful configuration tweaks and howtos on the individual game pages.

Past that you might want to look into simply running a windows VM if your system can handle it. Wine does a great job but 100% compatibility with every game is not something you're going to get.

You would edit it manually with a text editor such as vim, nano, emacs, kate etc.
