Error messages after Update

Link to this post 08 May 12

Hello people,

Each time I tape sudo apt-get update I get these error messages at the end:

W: Failed to fetch http://ppa.launchpad.net/and471/slickpanel-daily/ubuntu/dists/lucid/main/binary-i386/Packages.gz 404 Not Found

W: Failed to fetch http://ppa.launchpad.net/ubuntu-accomplishments/releases/ubuntu/dists/lucid/main/binary-i386/Packages.gz 404 Not Found

E: Some index files failed to download, they have been ignored, or old ones used instead.

Can you tell me why and how to fix them ?
I am using Ubuntu 11.10

Regards
Begueradj

This is usually due to the repository for an installed package to be unavailable, for whatever reason (network problems, servers down, company out of business). Try again in a few days is my usual advice. If the problem persists, find out the web address of the software provider and see what they say.

Thank you very much for your answer, Rubberman

That server contains no repository for Ubuntu Lucid any longer, that's why you get the error.

By the way, it's generally not a good idea to mix repositories of different versions of your OS (you have ubuntu 11.10 and this repo was for 10.04!)
