GParted should allow You to resize the XP partition to whatever,so You can use that for fedora.Did You try to resize it?

I actually would recommend burning the GParted lievcd, and I was referring to that before. You can get it at:
http://gparted.sourceforge.net/livecd.php
It should work better for you partition. Then try installing from your fedora disc.
So just boot that up,select your xp partition, then select the resize button and set a reasonable size then have it do that, and You can add the new partitions for fedora then or wait till You install fedora, but I would wait as it will do it just fine as long as you point it to the new unused space.

I assume You resized the xp partition. Is that error when You try to install from within the livecd?

As that probably the case,I would also suggest trying the proper install cd,unless You feel comfortable with gparted. In that case all You really have to do is make a single partition out of the unused space You freed, then the livecd install option should find it and you should be fine(this will also make xp blink again lol)

If you do erase Your install, dont forget to double check You backed up anything You want to keep.Sometimes its the best way to go.Its hard to keep jumping between os's.

I might also add,if You need any applications that only run(well) on windows,You can use a virtual machine like virtualbox to install a copy of xp and use it inside of linux(although the graphic acceleration isn't good enough for games and such),and You can use your xp disk,You'll just have to reinstall every 30 days unless You buy a new license(most likely-dumb xp activation).Thats how i have mine set up,works well.
