can anybody recomend a good website for Linux newbies. I am just getting used to linux now but still have a lot of gaps in my knowledge, i.e. virus and firewall issues, personal data, internet files and cookie etc.

I would HIGHLY recommend reading wikipedia section "Operating System". Heck, wiki has A LOT of info on *nix'es.

Personally I have one hardcopy of "Installing Linux" 500 pages book and all other info I get reading forums, if I have specific problem or free time. Theres a solution only when theres problem.

IMHO Its important to have working system with basic functionality, with things you need your PC to do. And dig into the deep if theres free time =). Look at linux as a kernel with standart packages(console utilities, tools etc) and other stuff that extends functionality(userspace).

I know that you asked for a website, but I will always recommend the book "Linux in a Nutshell". It is an excellent introduction, and has many little gems in it. Even an old used copy would be useful.
