At the recent OSBC conference in San Francisco, Marten Mikos, CEO of MySQL, delivered a thoughtful presentation on the popular topic of software stacks. Mikos used the Swedish word “Logom,” meaning somewhere in the middle, to define a “well-tempered stack” that can deliver a number of benefits:
Simple for the user (although complex inside)
Stable, performant behavior (from solid architecture)
Rapid, parallel development
Automatic and rapid adaptation
No single point of failure
