Moshe Bar, openMosix founder and project leader, has announced the port of openMosix to Linux 2.6. This rewrite of openMosix includes the first port of openMosix to the AMD Opteronâ„¢.
openMosix 2.6 for Opteron was first installed at the University of Pisa.
openMosix 2.6 moves much of the patch’s code from the kernel to user space. This brings a very significant improvement which provides improved performance, makes user land tools easier to implement, and most significantly, simplifies porting to new kernel versions including AMD Opteron™, Intel® EM64T, and PowerPPC.

openMosix is a Linux kernel extension for single-system image (SSI) clustering that allows building a cluster from ordinary networked computers. Applications benefit without modification specifically for openMosix.
