Excel Software writes “Bug Tracking with Event Triggered Email Notifications. Placitas, NM June 1, 2004 – Excel Software is pleased to announce QuickBugs 2.0, a development tool for reporting, tracking and managing bugs, changes and user requests. New features include highly configurable, event-triggered email notifications, improved report generator, streamlined workflow and new online help.

QuickBugs provides powerful, yet easy to use bug tracking. A shared XML based repository is accessible to multiple users and projects with assigned responsibilities, configurable access and privileges for users on each project. Virtually everything in QuickBugs is configurable to the organization and specific user needs including data collection fields, workflow, views, queries, reports, security and access control.

Managers, developers, testers and others interact with a bug tracking system, yet each has unique needs. The QuickBugs flexibility for providing user and role specific views, queries and reports has been extended to email notifications. Email notifications alert managers, developers, tester and others when an event has occurred that requires their attention. For example, developer Tom receives notifications of bugs assigned to him on the Controller project, while tester Sue gets notified of bugs fixed on the Console project that need to be verified.

Highly targeted email messages get generated based on specific trigger events. Each notification event is triggered when a condition occurs that may include any combination of field values in a bug report. A list of users and roles can be associated with each notification event. Roles like Manager, QA and Tester allow notifications to be easily re-targeted as people change projects or responsibilities. To cover for someone on a long vacation or business trip, use the carbon copy feature to get copies of their notifications sent to you.

The built-in report generator comes with standard reports for metrics, work assignments, status and summaries plus the ability to create custom reports with complete control over the content and format. QuickBugs understands the typical workflow of a bug report and provides shortcuts that streamline the process. QuickHelp provides one key access to contextual help for all menu commands and dialogs.

QuickBugs runs on Windows operating systems including 95, 98, NT, 2000 and XP. It is priced at $195 for a single user license, $585 for a 5-User Site License or $1170 for an Unlimited Site License at one location. It includes context-sensitive online help, printed user’s guide and a PDF manual on CD. Product descriptions and online ordering are available at www.excelsoftware.com.
