Until TextMaker, the most enthusiasm I’ve been able to muster for native Linux word processors is that some of them are less awful than others, but in
general they’re a pretty sorry lot. KWord showed great promise at first, but its developers didn’t nail down the basics before they started adding
features. File filters have always been a little chancy with KWord, at one point (and maybe still) producing the comical situation in which it could
produce files that it could not open.
