Reuters reports: “Gearing up for what is turning out to be a hot debate in Congress over copyrights in
cyberspace, Napster, maker of the wildly popular and controversial song-swap service, said
on Thursday it has hired a chief counsel to the Senate Judiciary Committee to spearhead its
strategy on legislative policy issues.

Manus Cooney, who currently serves as chief counsel and staff director to the Senate
Judiciary Committee and is the chief policy and political adviser for committee chair Senator
Orrin Hatch (Republican-Utah), will join Napster in January.”
