I don't know if Parallels supports distros (I've seen Windows support and I don't have a mac to test) but I've been able to run in Virtual Box VM with Linux distro guests.

Macs are Unix machines and Linux is based on Unix, so the answer is basically yes.
I haven't done it myself but there are members of different Linux forums who have and they are the ones to get the advice from on installation.
I would try either forum.pinguyOS.com or one of the Arch forums.
The former is probably the best option if you don't want to mess around with install-scripts.I believe, there are one or two people on the forum who have installed pinguyOS on macs, but the advice would likely be specific to pinguyOS and you will probably have to join the forum to raise the question. Alternatevly you could just browse the forum and see if you can find some previous posts on the subject.
I would bear in mind however as in many cases when installing Linux, if you are looking for help installing you are best to give your full machine-specs to the people concerned.
p.s. I would also check whether the instalation of pinguyOS is specific to intel-based macs.
