Get Unetbootin .
It is so easy to use .
You plug in a usb flash drive .
Select it in the menu (if it is not automatically selected . But DO NOT select your HDD .)
Click the browse for file button, select your .iso image, and click OK .
Then, you restart your computer and when it boots up HOLD DOWN F2 to get into the BIOS menu, and give the option to "boot from usb drive" .
After that, you are good to go . The Ubuntu install is extremely straightforward .
But that being said, Linux Mint is much more stable and is built on top of Ubuntu, and the install is just as easy . Your choice, but Mint is 100 times better than Ubuntu .
