How can I change root Password?

Different distributions of Linux have different formats for satisfying this (and other) situation(s)...

1 What distribution ('distro') are you working with (particularly on the server)???

2 Do you understand that you need root privileges (the root password) for taking this kind of action? -Yes, okay, I understand that this might sound like a mundane little detail, but you might be surprised at how many people actually try to change passwords and privileges without realizing they need their own passcode to get in.

3 Have you looked into the section(s) under 'sundry' or 'utilities' for a possible anwer? There might also be helpful indications in "help" files, depending on your particular version of Linux.

That's just to get you started with the probable "gui" side of the problem. And I'm not trying to be hard to get along with, but there are different formats and different places to look for your best options depending on the particular version of linux you have installed, especially on the server in question.
